Virtual Blackjack Strategies
Chinese people began to shuffle paper money into various
combinations and in China today the term for playing cards means paper tickets.
The 52 card deck as we know it was originally called the French Pack. Some people believe that Blackjack originated
in French casinos in the early 1700s where it was known as "vingt-et-un"
("20 and 1") Since then, about 20 states have had a number of
small time casinos sprout up in places such as Black Hawk and Cripple Creek,
Colorado and in river boats on the Mississippi. Once all bets are down the dealer will deal two cards, one
at a time, from left to right until both the players and dealer has two cards.
In a shoe game the cards are dealt face up and you shouldn't touch the cards. You must keep your hand over the table at all times
and if you are dealt any more cards to leave them on the table. Going over 21 is called "Busting." You
are playing only against the dealer. If your hand beats the dealer's hand, you
win. Players place their bets prior to the cards being dealt. Tables and online
casinos will have a minimum bet required to play the game. You win if your
hand is closer to 21 than the dealer's hand. If the dealer "Busts" or
has a hand that exceeds 21 and your hand is less than 21, you win! Surrender - this decision is quite rare and not offered is most casinos. After you see your starting hand and the dealers up card and you don't think you can win, you have to give your cards back to the dealer
immediately. If you surrender you will only lose half of your original bet.
