The origin of Blackjack is somewhat unclear. This game has been played in the United States since the 1800's. Player's add the value of their cards and either decide to "Stick" or "Stand" with their current cards or receive another card, called a "Hit" or "Draw," hopefully raising their total closer to 21 without going over. Once all players have decided to "Stand," the dealer reveals the face down card known as the "Hole" card. An Ace can count as either 1 or 11. Hit - if you are not satisfied with your current total you can ask the dealer to hit you which means he deals you another card in addition to your two. You are hit until you are satisfied with your total, or until you bust. Split - if your starting hand contains two cards of the same type (i.e. two 9's) you can split them up into two new hands.
