Blackjack Learn Play Net
This game has been played in the United States since
the 1800's. Gambling was legal out West from the 1850's to 1910, at which time
Nevada made it a felony to operate a gambling game. In 1931, Nevada re-legalized
casino gambling where BlackJack became one of the primary games of chance
offered to gamblers. Since then, about 20 states have had a number of
small time casinos sprout up in places such as Black Hawk and Cripple Creek,
Colorado and in river boats on the Mississippi. Roughly 70 Native American
Indian reservations operate or are building casinos as well. Once all bets are down the dealer will deal two cards, one
at a time, from left to right until both the players and dealer has two cards.
In a shoe game the cards are dealt face up and you shouldn't touch the cards. Going over 21 is called "Busting." You
are playing only against the dealer. Players place their bets prior to the cards being dealt. Card between 2 and 10 simply have their face
value regardless of suit. Hit - if you are not satisfied with your current total you can ask the dealer to hit you which means he deals you another card in addition to your
two. You are hit until you are satisfied with your total, or until you bust. Split - if your starting hand contains two cards of the same type (i.e. two 9's) you can split them up into two new
hands. Insurance - is offered to the players if the dealer's up card is an Ace, to protect against a dealers Black
Jack.
